St. Pankraz, Nöstach

As a reminiscence of the chapel in the castle of its donors, the exact location of which is no longer known today, the Mariazell monks had a Pankratius chapel built in the 13th century; it is first mentioned around 1260.

Originally only a small single-nave chapel, it was expanded in the 15th century to the extent that is still recognizable today, probably due to generous donations. The church remained in operation until 1784, when it was desecrated, the roof removed and thus left to decay.

After extensive renovation work in the 80s of the 20th century, it is now falling into dramatic decline, so that the loss of this romantic cultural gem is in danger.
